Set up the licence server

Updated · 1 minute to read Download as PDF

If your agreement includes the licence server, you can make short-lived licences yourself on a computer that never connects. Each one runs for as many days as your agreement allows, and never past the end of your main licence.

  1. Set it up

On the computer that will make licences, run unforged-licence-server init --label "Main office" with a name you’ll recognise. It writes enrol.req.

  2. Send us the request

Email enrol.req to your account contact. We’ll send back this server’s approval as approval.lic.

  3. Load the approval and your licence

Run unforged-licence-server load approval.lic, then unforged-licence-server load licence.lic. unforged-licence-server status shows what it can make today.

  4. Make a licence

Run unforged-licence-server issue --for "Business X" --days 14. Add --includes nib or --includes loupe to give only one. It writes the licence to a file named after who it’s for.

When your main licence is renewed

Load the renewed licence the same way. If we send you a new approval with it, load that too.

If something goes wrong

It says it can’t make a licence that long. The days asked for are more than your agreement allows, or would run past your main licence’s end date. Ask for fewer days, or renew your main licence first.
