Give a client a short-lived licence

Updated · 2 minutes to read Download as PDF

When a client needs Nib or Loupe for a piece of work, you can give them a licence of their own. Every result their copy produces names them and you, and it stops on the end date you pick.

  1. Start a new licence

    Go to Licensing

    Press New licence.

  2. Say who it’s for

Under For, enter your client’s name as you’d like it to appear, for example Business X.

  3. Choose the dates

Pick the day it Starts, then a Length. Only lengths your plan allows are offered, and Pick an end date lets you choose the last day yourself.

  4. Choose what it includes

Tick what your client needs. Anything your plan doesn’t cover is shown but can’t be ticked, marked Not in your plan.

  5. Create it and send it on

Read the notice, press Create licence, then Download it from the list and send the file to your client.

Revoking doesn’t stop an offline copy

If you revoke a licence, its online register checks stop at once. A copy on a computer that stays offline keeps working until its end date, and it counts towards your limit until then, so give each client the shortest licence that covers their work and issue a new one if they need more time.

Through the API

Send POST /licensing/licences with for, valid_from, valid_until and includes. The full reference is in the developer docs.

If something goes wrong

The New licence button has gone. Every licence your plan allows is in use, or your own licence has ended. The page says when the next place opens. Write to us at [email protected] if you need more.
