Who we are
In short Unforged is run by GitGlue Ltd. These terms are the agreement between us and the organisation that uses it.
Unforged (unforged.ai) is provided by GitGlue Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company no. 16899910), whose registered office is at 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London, England, EC2A 4NE. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean GitGlue Ltd, and “you” means the organisation that uses Unforged, together with the people it lets use it.
Unforged is for businesses and organisations, not consumers. By creating an account or using Unforged, you accept these terms on behalf of your organisation, and you confirm that you are acting for a business or organisation and are allowed to do so. Our data processing addendum forms part of these terms. If you have a signed order form or contract with us (for example, a Custom plan), it takes precedence where it differs from these terms.
The service
In short Unforged checks the signatures on a document against the reference signatures of the person who should have signed it, and returns a verdict with reasons.
Unforged Nib, our signature verification service, takes a document and checks each signature on it against the reference signatures you have enrolled for the person who should have signed it. It returns one of a small set of verdicts with plain-language reasons, through our API, a storage bucket drop and the dashboard.
We keep improving Unforged. We may change or add features, and we will not remove a core feature you rely on without telling you first. Our API is versioned, and the developer documentation explains how versions change.
Accounts and organisations
In short People sign in with their own accounts and work inside organisations. You decide who joins yours and what they can do.
Each person signs in with their own account. Accounts belong to one or more organisations, and an organisation can have sub-organisations. Your organisation’s administrators decide who joins, what each person’s role lets them do, and which API keys exist.
- Keep sign-in details and API keys secret, and revoke any you think are exposed.
- You are responsible for what happens under your organisation’s accounts and keys.
- Tell us straight away at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access.
- Give us accurate details, and keep your billing contact up to date.
Acceptable use
In short Use Unforged lawfully, only for documents you are entitled to check, and never to attack, overload or copy it.
You must not:
- break the law, or infringe anyone’s rights, when using Unforged;
- send documents or signatures you have no right to process, or use Unforged to track, profile or discriminate against people unlawfully;
- try to get around our security, access another organisation’s data, or probe, scan or test Unforged’s defences without our written permission;
- overload Unforged, work around rate limits or quotas, or send malware or malicious files;
- copy, reverse engineer or resell Unforged, or use its outputs to build a competing service, except where the law allows it.
Signature and biometric data
In short Signatures can be biometric data. You are the controller: you need a lawful basis, and any consent the law requires, before you send them to us.
A signature, and the comparison of one signature with another, can be personal data and, in some cases, biometric data, which data protection law treats as a special category. For the documents and signatures you send us, you are the controller and we are your processor.
You are responsible for:
- having a lawful basis under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR (where it applies), and a condition for processing special category data where one is needed;
- getting any consent the law requires from the people whose signatures you send, and giving them the information the law requires;
- choosing a history-retention setting that suits your purpose, and deleting references you no longer need;
- switching on reference learning only if you have a basis for it: it is off by default, and when on it adds approved signatures to that same person’s references and nowhere else.
How we process that data for you is set out in the data processing addendum.
Verdicts are decision support
In short A verdict helps a person decide. It is not a legal finding, and the decision is always yours.
A verdict is decision support. It is not a legal determination of whether a signature is genuine or forged, and it is not advice. Unforged never acts on a verdict for you: a FAILED verdict always goes to a person, and the decision about any document, application or person is yours.
No verification method is perfect. You should use verdicts as one input to your own process, with a person reviewing any case that matters.
Fees and payment
In short $0.50 per billable check, in US dollars, plus VAT where it applies. Pay as you go is billed monthly through Stripe; Custom plans are invoiced.
Our prices are on the pricing page. On pay as you go, each billable check costs $0.50. A check is one document checked against one person’s references, however many signatures it holds. Prices are in US dollars and exclude tax: VAT and similar taxes are added where they apply.
- Pay as you go is billed monthly through Stripe, for the billable checks in your billing period.
- Custom plans are invoiced, on the terms agreed in your contract.
- If a payment fails and is not put right, we may suspend billable checks until it is paid.
- We may change prices. We will tell you before a change takes effect, and it will not apply to checks already made.
Beta products
In short Products in beta (today, folio and loupe) are provided as-is and may change or stop.
Some products are in beta: today, folio and loupe. Access to them is on request. Beta products are provided as-is, without any warranty or service commitment, may change or stop at any time, and may not suit production use. Tell us if you plan to rely on one.
Intellectual property
In short You own your data. We own Unforged. Each of us gives the other only the rights needed to run the service.
You keep all rights in the documents, signatures and other data you send us, and in the results we return to you. You give us the right to use them only to provide, secure and support Unforged for you.
We, and our licensors, own Unforged, including its software, documentation and brand. We give you a right to use Unforged under these terms while your account is open. If you send us feedback, we may use it without owing you anything.
Confidentiality
In short We each keep the other’s confidential information private and use it only for this agreement.
Each of us will keep the other’s confidential information private, use it only for this agreement, and share it only with people who need it for that and are bound to keep it confidential. This does not cover information that is public through no fault of the receiver, or that the law or a regulator requires to be disclosed (with notice to the other side where that is allowed).
Warranties and disclaimers
In short We provide the service with reasonable skill and care. Beyond that, and beyond what the law does not let us exclude, it is provided as it is.
We will provide Unforged with reasonable skill and care, and in line with the security measures described on our security page.
Apart from that, and to the extent the law allows, Unforged is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that every verdict will be right, or that it will meet requirements you have not agreed with us in writing.
Limitation of liability
In short Each side’s liability is capped at the fees paid in the 12 months before the claim. Some liability cannot be limited by law, and is not.
Each side’s total liability under or in connection with these terms is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Neither side is liable for loss of profits, revenue, business or goodwill, or for any indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under English law. These limits do not reduce your obligation to pay fees that are due.
Suspension and termination
In short You can stop using Unforged at any time. We can suspend or end access for a serious breach or unpaid fees.
You can stop using Unforged at any time. Cancelling pay as you go in the billing portal stops billing at the end of the current period; closing your account is separate: email [email protected].
When your account closes we delete your organisation’s records (settings, keys and check history). Stored files — documents, reference images and result files — are deleted when you ask us to (email [email protected]), unless law requires us to keep them. Billing and audit records are kept. Before you close, you can export your results through the API.
We may suspend or end your access, with notice where we reasonably can, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if fees stay unpaid, or if we must to protect Unforged, other customers or the law. Sections that by their nature should survive the end of the agreement (including fees due, confidentiality and liability) do.
Changes to these terms
In short We will tell you about important changes by email or in the dashboard before they take effect.
We may update these terms. We will tell you about important changes by email or in the dashboard before they take effect, and show the date and version at the top of this page. If you do not accept a change, you can stop using Unforged before it takes effect.
Governing law
In short English law applies, and the courts of England and Wales decide disputes.
These terms, and any dispute about them, are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
