Check a licence on the machine

Updated · 1 minute to read Download as PDF

On the computer that runs Nib or Loupe offline, the licence command shows what the licence in use says, with no connection needed.

  1. Run the command

Run unforged-nib licence, or unforged-loupe licence, with the licence set the same way you run your checks.

  2. Read the details

It shows the kind of licence, who it’s for on a short-lived licence, who it was issued to and issued by, the day it was issued on, and the dates it’s valid from and valid until, with what it includes.

  3. Use it in a script

Add --json for the same details as JSON. The state value says whether the licence is in good standing, and the exit code is 0 when it is.

When something is wrong

If the licence has ended, hasn’t started yet or the clock looks wrong, the command still prints the details and says what to do on the next line. Every value and exit code is listed in the offline outcomes reference.
